Q18. What if the number of words in the story text exceeds the amount stipulated? What if the duration of any audio-visual work exceeds three minutes?

A18: We have a common standard. It is preferable for applicants to submit entries within the eligible word number and duration.

Q19. Is guidance counseling required for every team?

A19: Participants can take part individually or in team with no more than five members and one instructor. Each team or individual can submit up to three pieces of work.

Q20. As the subjects of the competition are plentiful, participants can feel overwhelmed and perhaps do not know where to start. Is it possible for you to provide some examples for reference so as to help contestants avoid being off the point?

A20: To shine some light on the subjects, the sponsors have set up dedicated plates on China Story materials on the contest’s official website with the special intention of reference. Although three official media provide story links serving as material reference for each plate, materials for China’s beautiful stories are endless. There is no need for contestants to be restricted by the materials we offer, but as a reminder, the submitted works must be original, consistent with national laws and regulations, and the participants shall be responsible for any liability deriving from their works.

Q21. Could you offer some information about the organizing bodies?

A21: The contest is semi-official and non-commercial. Relevant government departments such as China International Publishing Group (CIPG), Department of Higher Education of the Ministry of Education, Publicity Department of Hubei Provincial Party Committee, and the United Front Work Department of Hubei Provincial Party Committee act as its supervisors. At the same time, colleges, think tanks, and research institutions are involved, like the Center for International Communication Studies of CIPG, Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST), and Public Relations Society of the Chinese Association for History of Journalism and Mass Communication. This mix is built for the integration of government, industrialization, teaching, research, and application to fully bring the whole society into play.
