Shenzhen will witness the grand opening of the UNESCO Creative Cities Network 2010 Shenzhen International Conference today. Hundreds of elite designers and experts from over 20 countries are attracted to this warm coastal city by the four-day gala in creative industry. They will have a brain storm, exchange ideas and explore the future of the industry.
The Shenzhen conference is the first UNESCO Creative Cities Network meeting to be held in China. Various subjects in the fields of literature, film, music, crafts and folk arts, design, media arts, and gastronomy will be discussed. Scholars, experts, designers and celebrities from all around the world are invited to attend the conference.
According to the organizer, the city began to prepare for the grand event as early as last March. All the preparation work has gone well so far, which greatly facilitate the commencement of the conference.
The conference gala consists of four parts including meetings, exhibitions, experience and tours. There will be three high-level keynote speeches and three sessions of dialogues among the member cities of Creative Cities Network. For the dialogue sessions, 25 representatives from these creative cities will brief the city's unique experience and strengths and initiate discussions on topics such as "how to improve development of creative cities" and "city, homeland and design".
Seven workshops on new technology and new media are also embedded into the conference, allowing professional discussions and display of various achievements in regard to film, literature, music, design, gastronomy, crafts and folk arts, and arts in digital media respectively. Delegates to the conference will visit the most outstanding local businesses or industrial park such as Fantawild Group, Tencent, Tianmian Design Park and A8 Music Group.
