作为传统农业大县，河南省商水县拥有约140万亩耕地，曾连续多年粮食总产稳定在22亿斤左右。2020年，为探索巩固粮食生产基础新路径，商水县在5万亩高标准农田里规划“超级农田”蓝图，运用物联网、云计算、大数据及节水灌溉等先进技术，实现灌溉自动化、远程控制与节工、节水、节能的结合。
在“超级农田”的示范带动下，2020年，商水县一举打破连续多年的“22亿斤总产瓶颈”，粮食总产超过24亿斤，创历史新高。
